From December 7 to January 12, 2007, Atlantic Works Gallery presents TRANS, the national juried exhibition which brings together 14 artists to explore the many states that may be inferred by one small prefix. This show was juried by guest juror, Leonie Bradbury. Ms. Bradbury is Gallery Director and Curator at Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA.
TRANS may be the definitive prefix for the evolution of modern art, abstraction, and its de-sublimation by popular culture: transcendental, translucent, transformation, translation, transmogrification, transplant, transportation, transitory, transition, transience, trans-gender, transfer, and transparency.
The artists hail from Massachusetts, California, Maine, New York, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, and Montana.
This show will 'transform' the Atlantic Works Gallery into a delightful odyssey into a most important theme of our time.
