Text on Objects (Real and Hypothetical)

My intention is to evoke hypothetical and/or memory impressions within the viewer. Writings are conceptualized as pared down music and image structures.

Objects (literally) support and extend metaphorical implications of text.

Painted Photographs

These are contextual works which co-opt and undermine pre-digital era assumptions of photographic veracity.

Each work represents a unification of the output of two distinctly different value-based working methods. Visual similarities between the dark and mid-level values of b+w photographs and ink marks create the illusion of a strange seamless reality, ironically free from the manipulations of the computer.

Dog Pack

This rule-based and goal-oriented undertaking resulted in a population of over 500 (unglazed stoneware) objects. The variable-scale installation serves as a metaphor for the “drift” and mutation which occur within real-life populations as they propagate.
