Statement for WHITE RABBIT IN A SNOWSTORM

If a person says they see a white rabbit in a snowstorm and another does not, does the rabbit exist? Is someone fabricating tales (or tails in this case) and what of its validity? Taken from a humorous line, these pieces play with the idea of perception. Does something exist merely because it is stated to or is the existence of that something validated even if gone unnoticed? My latest series, “White Rabbit in a Snowstorm,” is a visual representation of this conundrum.

All the works in this series are titled “White Rabbit in a Snowstorm.” Taking cue from a humorous line, I translated it into a literal image but allowed it to remain abstract. As the series progressed, I added more concrete details focusing on the existential presence of many less-than-tangible topics.

In the end, it is the art viewers who make “White Rabbit in a Snowstorm.” Whether they see the rabbit or a white rectangle, whether they look beyond the cutesy, superficial imagery or look into the bigger picture, the art viewer is in control of what the art ‘says.’ I’m just here to fabricate tails.
